Summer Bike Camp Coach

Riding bikes can feel like freedom and pure joy. It gives you confidence by the skills you develop and a greater sense of connection to yourself, your loved ones and your surroundings.

Now is your chance to pass this on to the next generation. KidCycle Club uses the bicycle as a vehicle to power confidence and connection in kids. We create a safe and fun environment to get kids into riding and share skills to build their confidence and allow them to enjoy our amazing mountain environment.

We need your help! Summer is coming, and we are looking for Summer Bike Camp Coaches of all skill levels to work with our kids’ Camps. A KidCycle Club Summer Bike Camp Coach leads small groups of Riders aged 5 to 12 years old on an outdoor adventure to build their biking skills, confidence and connection in a safe and fun environment.

We love our Coaches and reward them in ways that encourage a fun team environment, as well as personal biking and coaching skill development.

KidCycle Club Summer Bike Camps:

  • Learn to Ride Camp

  • Greenway Cruiser Camp

  • Intro to Mountain Biking Camp

  • Ready to Shred Camp

  • Intro to Air Camp

KidCycle Club Summer Bike Camps are 5 days: Monday through Friday from 8am to 3pm, some Camps have extended care until 5pm (Note: 4th of July week will be 4 days). KidCycle Club Summer Bike Camps will run 9 weeks, from June 19 through August 18, at various locations in the Asheville area. Coach Training (paid) will be the week of June 12.

Coaching Expectations

  • Safety is our #1 priority – this includes physical and emotional Safety of yourself and the Riders

  • Fun is our #2 priority – Coaches create a fun environment for Riders to interact with the Coach and each other

  • Learning is our #3 priority – when Riders feel safe and are having fun, Learning can begin!

  • Provide professional biking instruction and coaching

  • Wear a KidCycle Club uniform (provided) daily

  • Use the KidCycle Club curriculum to teach biking skills, confidence and connection

  • Uphold KidCycle Club rules and guidelines for the safety and well-being of the whole group

  • Store and maintain KidCycle Club equipment as needed

  • Attune to the Riders’ and Parents’ learning objectives

  • Facilitate Learning through Fun

  • Adapt and adjust to meet the needs of all learning styles

What You Bring 

  • KidCycle Club Values alignment – Integrity, Uniqueness, Connection, Community, Joy

  • Outdoor leadership experience (preferred)

  • Experience and enjoyment of working with children in this age group (5 – 12 years old)

  • Responsibility to be the safeguard of the Riders in your group each session

  • Positive, caring attitude for the Riders and Parents each day

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills for Coaching and working with People

  • First Aid (Wilderness First Aid preferred) & CPR certifications

  • PMBIA or BICP Level 1 Instructor or NICA Level 2 Coach certifications preferred, but not required

  • Experience driving a trailer recommended, but not required

  • General physical fitness – morning and afternoon riding sessions will be up to 2 hours each

  • Ability to run, stop, stoop, bend, push

  • Use of both hands, arms, legs and feet

  • May include lifting up to 50 pounds

  • Must be 18 years of age

  • Must pass background check

  • Must hold valid driver’s license

  • Mountain Bike Coaches must provide a bike appropriate to their relevant Camp

Note: COVID-19 Health & Safety Policies in place for the health and safety of all Riders and Coaches. Vaccinations are required for Coaches in close contact with Riders.
